There are many theories on stretching our muscles. Some may suggest, running for 5 minutes then stretching, or others may suggest stretching before and after a workout. However, think of it this way - When we get a piece of meat out of the freezer and try to bend it. Most of the time it would snap in two pieces. Muscles are very similar. 2. When slight tension (slightly uncomfortable) is felt, hold the stretch.
3. Hold the stretch for 10 to 15 seconds in a static position.
4. DO NOT BOUNCE or TAKE THE STRETCH TO THE POINT OF PAIN
5. Relax the stretch and return to the original position slowly and controlled.
6. Balance your body. Be sure to do the same stretching on the other side.
